PARKINSONISM In the year 1817 Dr. James Parkinson described the symptoms of this brain disorder in detail for the first time, and therefore, this disease is now known as Parkinson’s disease. It is a common and troublesome disease affecting old people. In this disease; there is progressive cell degeneration in the region of the brain known as substantianigra reducing the formation of an extremely important bio-chemical substance, dopamine. Because of this, symptoms like lethargy, decrease in co-ordination, tremors, rigidity of muscles etc. occur. The beginning affects one side of the body, i.e. either the left or the right side.
